Annual Conversation on Race
Rivers of Stories: Intersections of Race, Migration & Integration
Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Regency Plaza 912
912 West St. Germain, St. Cloud, Minnesota
Create CommUNITY invites the entire community to its 6th Annual Continuing the Conversation on Race, Tuesday, October 11. Business, civic and religious leaders will join community members to come together to explore and deepen their understanding of the intersections of race and immigration through local immigrant stories across the years and continents. The event will feature music, poetry and great food.
Our special guest is Janet Horvath, associate principal cello of the Minnesota Orchestra, author, and speaker. She will present the premier of her newly created multi-media performance piece entitled: It’s Not Too Late to Stop The Hate. Her project, her parents’ immigration story, is a lesson in tolerance and anti-racism for students, families and the entire community.
St. Cloud and Central Minnesota is a growing, dynamic and rapidly diversifying community. This luncheon provides a rich context for meaningful conversations that will go far beyond the event itself. The event will culminate with a call to action for participants.
Cost & Registration:
There is a small registration fee of $15 to cover the cost of space and lunch. The fee is reduced to $5 for seniors (65+) and students.
